Story and Poem of the Month

Our Story and Poem of the Month for April, very kindlty chosen by RJNewlyn

Pick of the month April 2025

Well done to everyone who has posted this month and for keeping up the quality so ably. It has been a tough call …

For prose, do take a look at Caldwell’s riff on The Raft of the Medusa (https://www.abctales.com/story/caldwell/th%C3%A9odore-g%C3%A9ricaults-raft-medusa), K-Burgin’s challenging ‘Killing Caprice’ (https://www.abctales.com/story/k-burgin/killing-caprice) and the ever-reliable Terence Oblong’s ‘Birmos in the Cowshed’ (https://www.abctales.com/story/terrence-oblong/birmos-cowshed). And well done to Celticman (Steelie), Phil Whiteland (Chronicles of a Young Lady …) and Jane Hyphen (Parcel for You) for continuing their excellent serializations. But Pick of the Month goes to Itane Vero for ‘It’s obviously a plot behind the human race’s back’ (https://www.abctales.com/story/itane-vero/its-obviously-plot-behind-human-races-back) – it was fairly short and made me laugh, which is as much as anyone can ask for at the moment.

For poetry, there were excellent contributions from Jane Hyphen (https://www.abctales.com/story/jane-hyphen/young-man), hoalarg1 (https://www.abctales.com/story/hoalarg1/natures-song) and onemorething (https://www.abctales.com/story/onemorething/heronning), but Pick of the Month goes to Yutka for ‘I am the stillness’ (https://www.abctales.com/story/yutka/i-am-stillness) which is definitely a go-to if you’re looking for inner strength and I guess is also as much as anyone can ask for at the moment.

Well done all!
