Saturday evening onward..

Saturday evening onwards

I was back in Norwich by around 17:00 hours and shot around the shops to collect filtered milk and other such goodies. I was worn out yet content. I decided to catch the bus and get off near to Tesco's about half way home. I hadn't found any filtered milk. As I neared the bus stop I stopped to rest, and some young men, square and fit, moved up the path. One sprawled out, open, legs apart on a street bench. Possibly a soldier – and they said their farewells and they moved apart, the others going up the hill past Iceland.

I felt the paving slabs move as if hundreds of rats were passing quickly below it. It felt liquid, not solid under foot. I moved from foot to foot, checking out what I saw under my feet. Was it dangerous? This was Norwich.

As I stayed there I felt a vortext form and shapes come spirelling up – two of them. I had dreamt of these two. The Elven Kings had come. I had seen them both, one a man, enclosed in a sleeping chamber of metal and glass. I'd thought him dead, yet his mouth opened and closed, and he breathed. The other beside him on a table, more robotic, his face an outline of metal, like a mask. Thin, I had the notion of space between skin as thin. I don't know why I see him that way yet I do!

Dreams are like that – unclear.

The paving slab jumped. I jumped.

“It's you! Isn't it?” snapped a voice. “I knew it would be you again!”

“Hello,” I said chattily, “I know who you are!”

I heard laughter from the other beside him.

“How so?” he enquired grimly. “How can you see?”

“I saw you last night in your bedchamber,” I pointed out, “I thought you dead, yet you breathed!”

“Pardon!” he said, then to his fellow travellor, “Is it possible?”

“Only with her,” he replied, “I think its the uplink, we put it there so we could see them, now its working too well and she can see us!”

There was a pause.

“You'll have to come back with us soon!” said the Elven King quickly, “Soon!”

“Don't worry,” said the second, “Your body is worn out, like we said before, we can soon extract you and set you free, then you'll never want to go back again!”

“Totally free,” said the Elven King, “A new body for you we promise!”

“That may be so!” I said thoughtfully, it does no good to cause offence after all... especially to those you can't gauge. “If I do can I have your bed!”

“Pardon!” he said, “My bed?”

“Yes, I fancy that bed, and you're a knight!”

“Yes, I'm a knight,” he agreed quickly, “And...” to his companion he said, “What will I do then?”

I grinned, I'd got him!

“Well since you're a knight you'll sleep across the door, to keep me safe.” I pointed out, “I'm a lady as you know...”

“You're a knight!” he spluttered out, as his companion laughed again at this prediciment.

“I was, and now I'm worn out,” I pointed out, “And we've got to leave Earth behind!”

“Yes,” he admitted, “Although not yet, very soon... we'll come for you shortly. Be ready!”

“Yes,” I said, “Only I want your bed mind!” and with that I went towards the bus... “Got to go, bye!” I called behind me.

I saw the man on the bench had gone, sometime during our unseen, unheard chat... I half wondered where....
