"Matilda's Assignment"

Matilda, an angelic guardian, failed miserable in her last three attempts to earn her first-class status. She is given a ‘free choice’ assignment to prove herself before being sent back to training status. ‘Carte Blanche’ is unheard of with failing guardians, and yet it has been given to her. Matilda is ecstatic until she realizes it must be a test, and she hates tests, but she cannot fail this one. The only option she has is to find a soul so unredeemable it would be viewed as a miracle to turn it around. Matilda had not chosen an easy assignment. Redeeming Ana Collins would bring her face to face with her own shortcomings in love and in life. In the form of the first-class guardian, Charles, who she’d have to ask for help she is faced with her own past failure. Having Charles beside her while she reviews her own actions is making the assignment too humanly real for a guardian. In the final outcome, she and Charles will have to acknowledge the mistakes made in their lifetime and the love that still exists between them.
