I remember being directed by the author to a site, where I was told to look under absurd. It's an absurd story; that often means unbelievable. In fictionn we make things up; it's our business to tell fantastic lies. What's believable or not is moot to me.

Hi, John I hear what you're saying about not mattering. Some care, some don't! The back and forth always happens, though. What some don't believe is realistic others do, etc. That happens all the time. Me, heh? I don't know! I guess with verisimilitude, heh? Well, it all depends!
