Poems for funerals

Hello

I have a friend who has to give a reading at a funeral soon for a very close friend and has asked me if I know of a poem she can read...I have no bloody idea so can someone help???? Help!!! She said spiritual, but not anything too religious...so any ideas would be MUCH appreciated.

I think there's a book you should be able to get cheaply from Amazon called "Stop All the Clocks ... poems for funerals" or something similar. It's hard to make a suggestion without knowing the person who has died... jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net

Yes, I know, but thanks for the tip. I'll have a look. I think she's just very, understandably, distressed at the moment and thought I might be able to help and I couldn't think of much even with avid googling and then felt bad about it so thought I'd ask, but as you say it's hard to do when you don't know the person. Just didn't like feeling as though I couldn't help out.

The poem read in the film "Four Weddings and a Funeral" was, I thought at the time, one of the best funeral poems I had heard. I still think so. Unfortunately I can't remember who wrote it or it's name but it shouldn't be difficult to find. It really was a brilliant piece beautifully delivered!
It's by WH Auden and is called "Funeral Blues". It is beautiful if a little over-used. jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net
