Photographs and Memories. January 2nd 2019

It's a new year and a step closer to 'the out door'. I'm not being peeissimistic, that's just chronology and statistics speaking.

Long before I had a protracted near death experience ( NDE) from June 2017 to March 2018, I had decided to start to divest myself of 'stuff'. I had pretty much travelled light over my years but, when I ceased to be 'nomadic' I started to acquire 'stuff'. Also, the 'stuff' that I had in storage came back into my home.

To a degree I found this unsettling. Inanimate objects brought with them memories of places and people I had been, and photographs, rekindled memories of those I had loved and who had loved or tried to love me; the dead and the living were refreshed in my mind.

As a single man, with no offspring, I have decided its time to try and write the stories that the photographs evoke. This, I hope, will keep the flame of love and friendship kindled long after I am gone and paint a clearer picture of who I was/am for my relatives and teh ;'generations'.

Too many times I've wished I had asked a quetion of someone, before they died. Hopefully, I'll avoid some of  that ( for others) by giving as many answer as possible in the tales of Photographs and Memories.

The stories need telling as they belong to another Britain. A Britain where anyting seemed to be possible if you were young and had the willl and curiosity to take the first step, or ask the question. For me it was a nurturing place. The fact that I am here to write about it attest to my luck in finding 'Angels' who took the time to help a damaged boy/man, who was not their own, of Caribbean heritage to come ot terms with living in both worlds.

People were very different and so were interactions. The photgraphs remind me of that.

As I review them, I will try and share them with you.
