For those who don't visit UKAuthors.com (tut, tut)...
...some news about Voices From The Web, UKA's first anthology:
Ok, I've had an email from Bluechrome and this is what they say (I've omitted the hugs and kisses):
'I will hopefully have a PDF across to you within the next couple of days. We've followed the format pretty much as supplied, but have added a header on each page that includes the title and page number etc. Additionally, we've varied the font a little for the title of each author's section (their name and story/poem title) to try and separate things out a little.
Re extending the deadline. I can list the book on our site at the full price, but supply you with a separate link that means the book sells at the discounted rate - that way, people will need to come from the UKAuthors site to take advantage of the cheaper price. If we go this route, I'm quite happy for the discount to remain indefinitely - but it really will only work from your site, so you'll need to make it clear, as I don't really want to get into refunds. For people who haven't got credit cards, I'll set-up a PDF that people can download and print and send with a cheque etc.
Re the publication date. I'd aim for 6 weeks after the manuscript/cover have been agreed. We can actually get books a little quicker, but it is nice to send Press Releases/book information to the book shops a few weeks early to give their buyers a chance to get books in the shops, if they so choose.'
If you're interested, here are their requirements for manuscripts. For more info, you can visit Bluechrome Publishing:
'For poetry it's pretty much by invitation other than for our competition which Ronnie Goodyer is running at the moment. For fiction, we are looking for full length or novellas fiction, that is "unique" i.e. no Clancy/Archer/Grisham clones - but everything submitted is read. We prefer submissions to be in the form of a Word Attachment if possible (we'll take disks/CDs/Paper if that is the only option, but the turn-around is a lot slower).'
Natually there's even more info on UK Authors :-)
So now you know...
