I thought this poem had a lot of potential...

particularly

'a child admired for the shortness of life'

and

'mother cooked corden bleu meals seasoned
.
with selfishness, inside a closed door she
whisked up cakes'

Also the idea of the siblings not staying touch, each of them 'inventing'...

A quietly dark, and quite powerful, poem. Even on first read.
I might have liked it if 'selfishness' was replaced with 'bitterness', just because it's less of a judgement call.

(oh, and it should be my father's neice in the first line - you missed an apostrophe.)

thank you for the cherries, i was surprised because altho i like this poem very many do not, it leaves them cold or sad, or both. And a big thank you for taking the time to suggest improvements, i have altered it slightly. I hope it reads alittle better to you now... thanks:) maisie
