Pepsoid's Daily (ish) Gripe

Quiz shows? Can't abide 'em. That said, I will, however, on occasion, flick on the TV, for something to numb the brain for a few minutes, and one of these delightful little items of programmage will just happen to be on. "Aw what the hell, think I, and decide, just for a few minutes, to get involved.

Just such an occasion arose on Saturday evening; specifically in relation to the infuriatingly cheery "National Lottery: in it to win it (¦sheesh¦)¦ and it occurred to me that surely - surely - these hapless contestants have been instructed to pad out their answers as much as possible, thus increasing the "tension and so forth? I do so try not to get annoyed by such things, but¦ fuck me, it's annoying! An example is provided thus¦

The lovely Mr Winton (Dale) did posit a question¦ oh, I dunno, I can't even remember what it was now, but the answer (to be chosen amongst a selection of three) was "Ricky Gervais¦ and the answer which was given by the pretty, witty, little blonde (is it me, or is there always a pretty, witty, little blonde?) was thus¦

"I know the answer to this one, Dale¦ I'm a fan of all those people!¦ He starred in The Office and it's Ricky Gervais.

I mean, for Odin's sake, what's wrong with a simple "Ricky Gervais!¦?! Or even, if you want to be all friendly and amiable about it¦ "It's Ricky Gervais, Dale!¦?!

And then¦ then¦ there's the clapping during the National Lottery draw, after each little big-money-ball tumbles happily into its little Reservoir of Hope¦ The clapping and the whooping and such, as if it's such a bl'm'n achievement for a ball to tumble through a hole!

That's my gripe for the day.
