This account of common childhood trauma is horrible and excellent.

It's a good piece of writing, but the conclusions he reaches are based on the same kind of fantasies as his dad was funny. The services he speaks of are being eaten alive. This is nostalgia speaking. His view of a Britain that no longer exists and probably never did. 

 

Sad story. Good that it's class-free. It doesn't matter what you have in the bank when this shit hits. I do get what Celt's saying about services. Mind you, 15 or 20 years ago they were intact but ineffectual. Just part of the ongoing tragedy. Interesting piece though.
