i was just reading some of her stuff yesterday. she's really good. i don't know how they decide what's good or not. but i think they should re-read her stuff. i totally agree, there are other writers with works on abctales that should be cherry-picked. i read poetry all of the time, and some of these writers deserve a second glance.

HMM!! Remarkably similar addresses postee #1 and postee #2 have. Posted within a few minutes of each other too. I do hope this is not as fishy as it appears!!! Can we have the tags next to names back? Please?? I'm fed up of all this whoc stuff now..

have just read Death of Life by Angela Jackson. thought it was good, though not really my kind of thing. was troubled by this line though:- "for thee plays by thine own rules." i would have thought 'thee' was more commonly used in the accusative, with 'thou' being the nominative required here.

I agree #2, this whoccy stuff is tiring. perhaps the eds haven't got round to anjela's stuff yet. I've just read those two pieces. an incredible amount of 5 stars! more than some of the best pieces on the site (by common concensus) have achieved! that is good. Oh, I meant to tell you no2, there was a fishy promotion at my supermarket yesterday. But you had to serve your self. #1 xxx

I have a sneeking suspiction 'crystal' and'trini' are the same person. I should know, I played the same game myself to promote my stuff (anyone remember RichieDavid?) By now I think everyone knows that me and Rich are one in the same. ABCTalers are not as naive as they would have you beleave.

Okay, let's calm down. I suggest we give Crystal Clear the benefit of the doubt - nobody wants to scare someone off the site or the forums. Angela Jackson has posted an absolute ton of poems in the last two days - the reason that she hasn't had any cherries from me (yet) is simple - I've only had chance to read one of her pieces, which was good. I think she seems like a nice person and writes from the heart. Fundamental misunderstanding about cherries - the fact that someone didn't get one doesn't mean I didn't think their work was good. I am looking for something more than just good - it is something about the piece that catches my attention and makes me want to read it again. It is in a sense a personal opinion, just as it is a personal opinion of an agent or publisher that sifts the submissions they receive. If there is any bias at all from this editor, it tends to work against the people I am most familiar with, since I make them work harder to earn their cherries, just to make sure to myself that I am being fair.

Seriously, I dont know whats going on. I just noticed it now. Will someone please enlighten me?

I have read quite a few poems/tales recently that have been brilliant in my eyes. The cherries are nice, but they wilt and fade after a while.. the berries need to be cared for and you must keep on adding more and more seed... (what the hell am I going on about?) I have just returned after a night on the lash and need to be excused! I think what I was trying to say was this: Don't worry about the cherries, if your work means something to you, then who cares? We all have different tastes, styles and you can't be in everyones' list of "greatness" I am going now to have some coffee..... Anyone care for a cup? Linsi

I think it's strange that of all my stories that have gotten cherry picked, three out of four of them, I haven't worked more than four hours on. Most of the non-cherried stories I have worked 12+ hours on! I guess the moral of this story is to make them short'n'sweet.

I will make tea....but my eyes are unfocused, and you may have a mixture of coffee and tea!!! Oh god, I'm pissed but hey!! Tiz Gud Yah! (goes to make tea....)

I just put a new post up on jazzyb, and happened to see i had been the subject of several posts. let me make one thing "crystalclear", if work is good, it will get noticed in the bye and by. If i have to assume another identity to get my poems read, what business have i to even be here? And, sleuth 1 and 2, who cares what you think? I don't, i just hate that you trashed this crystalclears to the point that she won't be back. How R U D E.

I think Angela has a point here. The site is for everyone, that is the whole point of it. If someone has been promoting their own work (and I am far from being convinced that Angela has), then so what ? People will click on one story, read it and they then make up their own mind - they either like it and read more, or don't like it and then don't read more. So no real harm done. Let's not jump down people's throats - especially for recommending someone's work. I would prefer that everyone approached the topic in the way Islandwriter did - if you would like people to read your work, then it is acceptable to post a thread asking people if they would have a look at it. I am fully in favour of anyone posting up a thread saying that they like someone's work. If on the odd occasion, that gets abused, well, it isn't the end of the world - and it is much better than newcomers being frightened to speak out. There are a lot of new writers joining the site, and that is good for everyone here. Try some of the new ones out, including Angela, and make up your own mind.
