Thought Cafe...

yikes ... have got a load of stuff stored on there ... will have to move it quick ... i never quite got to grips with t-caff after they decided to have alll those confusing membership levels ... i know a lot of other people stopped using it after that too as i no longer get the notifier emails from when my "friends" post things ... the forums ... hmmm i never got into those there either ... they were very difficult to read through ... i gather they have had loads of abusive stuff on there and people leaving and whatnot ... i am totally unaware of what has been happening really ... seems a shame ... wish them well with their new incarnation ...

I don't think the site is moving because of abuse but because like UKauthors in the past, it needed a better facility. It isn't a 'closing' but just a move of home. They are also going back to being a free site and the forum is now identical to UKauthors, whilst I agree that it is much better than the old format there is none so easy to use and navigate as this one, hence the popularity of the ABC forum. It is still a nice site and the facility to post comments below the work as an open list is nice too. It was this in area that the abuse occurred though, and I was a victim once although not on a nasty level. The upshot was as far as I can remember that only signed in members could add comments.

Delighted to report that old TC has reopened for posting, although discussions have now been transferred to the new forum which'll act as a 'writers' community'. Phew! Hard to keep up sometimes....wish them well, though.

I like the thoughtcafe format, find it much easier to access stories for one thing! And I like getting comments. Abc has better forums though.

hallooo out there, everyone! In retreat from same, so know all the goings on..and they change daily! Yes Andrea, door to ThoughtCafe is now unlocked, seemingly indefinitely, but not for new members at the moment. Only existing members can post and read/comment. But threads are gone, and that is definitely due to some over the top abuse, to include hacking into others' accounts. Wowa, it was NASTY! After initially closing up TC and saying it was all over, basically, Jon decided to just jump ship and take everyone with him to his new site, which he's been working on for some time. I much prefer the old format though. SO. TDecided it was time for me to show my face around here again. Now all I have to do is write something!

Well I'm obviously more naive than I thought, but then I didn't use discussion boards on T/C so wouldn't have been aware of those probs. It's always a shame when some social misfit has to resort to abuse to get themselves noticed, it's happened here in the past as we all know with several notorious trolls slagging other users, even some they used to call friends.
