I disagree with you Mississippi, I don't think that the Czechs would beat the hosts, the Greeks could beat the hosts for psychological reasons mainly . But yeah, in a way *my money is on the Czechs* too.
Well I have no doubt that the Greeks will be a hard team to beat from what I've seen of them. To get this far in a major tournament you HAVE to be good, and all four semi-finalists are as good as any team I've seen in the last 20years. I'm completely impartial from here on in, I just want to see some great footbawl.
>>and let never any swiss person here you talk about somebody being "a german swiss"...there is nothing like that<<
I know there isn't... I was having fun with the so called enmity that exists between us and Germany on the football pitch and the fact that his name is Meier and the most common language of the four spoken in Switzerland is German.
BTW out of curiosity, last time I was in Germany I noticed frantic mowing activity in people's gardens and in farmer's fields on Saturdays. When I asked why, I was informed it is verboten to cut grass on a Sunday. I beleived it at the time (because it was very quiet on the Sunday) but I'm now wondering if my chain was being jerked by that rarite thing... a German with a sense of humour.
Grin.
(I was near Freiburg 3 years ago)
I had backed Portugal, but I'm not so sure. Cesky have really impressed me and I reckon the game could go either way, expecially as Figo has finally hit some kind of form.
Last night's match was brilliant but Pauletta was poor. The goal of the tournament was socred last night I reckon. Maniche's strike was unbelievable
Well I just hope you don't get that tosser Swiss referee, Nicoletta. Greece has every right to be proud of their team tonight, I cheered them into the last whistle.
Far be it for me to spread conspiracy theories but his name suggests he is a German Swiss.
Having said that, now I have calmed down, Andrew makes some good points and I too heard that the ref blew for an earlier foul.
Anyway, well done Greece.
The czechs ought to win it now but don't forget Latvia made them look ordinary in their match.
Well in the analysis on the news this evening, respected referes said nothing of the sort, they almost all said it WAS a fair goal. No mention of a prior blow-up.
Well you never know Liana this might be a glorious dream.........oh i think Czechy will play the Greeks in the semi finals anyway, and then Portugal or Holland in the final.
Well they were both crap in the first half, BUT the Czechs remembered they were there to play football in the second half and I'm glad they won. But THREE NIL! The Danes looked like schoolboys in the second half.
Actually on the TV they discussed the referees self-obsession and pointed out that he has his own website for his admirers, including a feedback page. They put the site up on the screen and invited people to have their say!
Yeah i know flashy.. i meant greeks please, as in "bring em on"...
What will be *really* funny for me, is that I have a friend called Stavros who owns a bar where I stay in cz... I think we will be watching the match there... *evil grin*
I fancy Cz Portugal for the final, Czechs to win.
Come on, let's not be mealy-mouthed, let's say what we all think:
IF THE F**KING GREEKS CAN GET TO THE FINAL (WHIPPING BOYS OF WORLD CUP USA 94 LEST WE FORGET, PRETTY USELESS FOOTBALLING NATION) WHAT A F**KING MICKEY MOUSE TOURNAMENT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN BENEATH US TO PROGRESS IN IN THE FIRST PLACE...
Not that I'm bitter like...
What Pavel Nedved should never have been booked?
Des and Max a bit too modern for you Missi, prefer a bit of Russ Conway do you or Mrs Mills perhaps?
But the important question tonight is, why are premier league players on £60,000 a week knackered and therefore unable to perform for their countries?
Overpaid W**kers i say.
and yeah, nedved should *never* have been booked. Those dirty danes...
can that be withdrawn? (the booking, not my dirty dane comment - i stand by that)
Football (like many other things) is for everyone, unless of course you want to base everything on racial or nationalistic criteria. Anyway, Yorkie, bye bitter Yorkie, bye.
And with George Clooney in goal no less! Tell you what (as smarmy, do you fancy me ladies, Des would say) the longer it went on as an impartial observer (despite wanting the czechs to win - is that a contradiction?) you couldn't help cheering on the underdog.
Attractive it wasn't. But they were big and well organised. The Greeks hunted like wolf-packs and gave no respite.
I suppose for the perfect symmetry Portugal will have to win in the final.
Although...
Party away Nic, you were the better team on the night.
The Greeks deserved to win, tho it went downhill for the Czechs when Nedved went off. I was surprised they didn't take him for x-rays straight away, that knee looked pretty bad to me.
