Derby Event - June 11th at The Brunswick Inn, Railway Terrace, Derby

Just a quick reminder.

There, I said it would be quick.

They're brewing the ale now - as we speak.

The cheesy footballs are being ordered from Costco.

The carpet is being hooverered.

The bar is being wiped.

Gangs of hopeful readers are contacting Mark at markbrown@abctales.com.

The post is ending.

Not that Twister, the one i play is where you pretend to be a tornado and spin around the room.........i fell over a dozen times on Friday night. The Twister you're playing is only good fun if young ladies in bikini's play while you spectate, i thought everybody knew that.

Am booked in to a B&B called "Chambers House" in the city centre, costs £25 per single room. If Katrina or anyone else is thinking of staying over, it's a pretty small place. Does this Brunswick Inn do decent food at all?
Jeff Prince
Anonymous's picture
Yes, Fish and Bert it will be brilliant to meet you both! I hope you can make it. The Brunswick has got a guest cider at the moment. It's 7.3% vol so surely no better reason to come to the do? Emma - any time you can come down to Derby let me know and I'll take you to the Industrial Museum. I promise it's a great day out! And it's free.

From the travelling Diary of Mark Brown, Year of our Lord 1889: "Floyd and I have booked ourselves into the esteemed Derby Best Western also. I admit some worries as to the mysterious nature of the group who shall be awaiting us, but Floyd assures me that the people of the flatlands have all of the modern manners and can be most hospitable once they have overcome their innate conservatism toward strangers. While I feel some trepidation at the rigours of the trip ahead, both Floyd and myself find ourselves in boisterous spirits. We shall be embarking from London at around the third hour tomorrow, travelling on the modern model of engine from the imposing edifice of St Pancras to Derby. I do hope my people have prepared sufficient provisions to last us. Travelling can be a most ardulous and troublesome endeavour."

As the link some way above testifies Neil, they do serve "massive baps". Failing that, in the city centre there are two Wetherspoons that do decent enough food and beer - The Standing Order in the market place, and the Babington, just round the corner from Waterstones. Three days to go! Can't wait!!
Jeff Prince

Well I haven't got my own programme on hospital radio, Flash - YET.

'Massive baps', eh? Wouldn't mind getting my hands on some of those. *Checks train timetable*

i think anyone who has moaned in the past about all events being london centric and who also lives within striking distance of derby and doesn't go ... is a churl and a cheapskate ... i have definitely moaned in the past ... therefore to avoid my own accusations of churlishness and cheapskatery i will have to attend ... i will make bert attend (and read) even tho he is a churlish cheapskate ... (how far are you from london then storms?)

Well, Derby may be not far from you fishyberty, but according to my trusty maplas it is 100 miles north and left a bit from me. and that is an awful number of beermiles let alone beerreads. Emma, Stuntpoetry is an art-form tried by many yet perfected by none. The Clematis manouvre is iconoclastic.
