Some excellent sentiments there, Harry. As an ex-civil servant of long-standing, I saw these youngsters day in, day out. In my city is was always "Borstal". A place to dump unruly (and sometimes unwanted) children. Beaten, humilated, held down to recieve the knuckle tattoo's they spiralled down into a circle of crime.
I haven't any answers, but we should never let these questions go unanswered.

Cheers for the interest Lisa, sadly as I said in the piece, it will go unanswered, brought up again when another child dies in custody at the hands of the state. Then society asks how this can go on before it's swept under the carpet again. The answer to that is simple, it goes on because us, as a society, allows it to go on. Harry Kerdean
