Cricket - it doesn't seem possible

It certainly didn't seem possible to lose the 2nd Ashes Test - but we managed it. I sat up until lunch and was gobsmacked at the way we played - especially Flintoff and Pietersen. I'm heartbroken. A great series is ruined, the Aussie beast has got away and we just lost it. What happened this morning to make it all so bad? My only theory is that duncan Fletcher just told them to hang abut and they'd decide what to do once the first hour or so was done. That led to indecision in the batsmen's minds (what minds you may well ask) and Warne did the rest.

I might get some sleep now.

I don't actually like cricket, but I felt sorry for this thread, sitting there all on its lonesome, so I thought I'd say hello... So... "Hello, cricket thread!" :-))) {{{_"P"_}}} ... What is "The Art of Tea"? ... (www.pepsoid.wordpress.com - latest... Review of "Casino Royale")

Well, I don't like the cricket thread. It's a sour-faced little shit of a thread, with a body odour issue. If I ever get my hands on that cricket thread...
Oy! Cricket thread bully! You should be ashamed! {{{_"P"_}}} ... What is "The Art of Tea"? ... (www.pepsoid.wordpress.com - latest... Review of "Casino Royale")

Is there any hope Tony? Could we still square the series? You never know. Could be a Roy of the Overs type finish.
I rather like that we've gotten crap at sport again, it never felt quite right when we won stuff.

BTW, I did initially think this would be a philosophical discussion about the relative reality/non-reality of cricket (or perhaps the platonic "Cricket")... Just goes to show... Anyway, carry on! {{{_"P"_}}} ... What is "The Art of Tea"? ... (www.pepsoid.wordpress.com - latest... Review of "Casino Royale")

The All New Pepsoid the Umpteenth!

Yesterday/Monday was dismal but I'm not sure the general situation is surprising. We narrowly beat an extremely good Aussie side last year, when they were off form and we had all our best players available and fit. This time around we've lost Vaughan from the batting and in the bowling department, Jones - who took loads of important wickets - is permanently injured and has been replaced by Anderson - who'll be doing amazingly if he ever gets anyone in the top order out. Harmison - who's been erratic for a while - is now just consistently crap. Flintoff is very good but injured. Giles is quite good at his best but has bowled regularly for a year. So essentially we only had one match-fit first choice bowler in the 2nd test and he did quite well. Overall, bottling aside, our batting line-up is at least the second best in the world but the bowling line-up - which was only just good enough when we beat them - is miles and miles away from the necessary standard.

There you are, Peps - you just can't trust a cricket thread!
True. Especially when people start talking about cricket. Blighter! {{{_"P"_}}} ... What is "The Art of Tea"? ... (www.pepsoid.wordpress.com - latest... Review of "Casino Royale")

Sorry, Foster. This thread is about SPORT. :)

Thanks, G4 - I thought it was strange the way he used the singular, 'sport'. The things I learn on the site...
