A Massive Thankyou

I would just like to officially record my gratitude to those who have 'held the fort' whilst I have been away on my holiday for the past 17 days.

They have edited, selected the SoW, PoW and the IP, put up the Facebook and Twitter picks of the day, set up the accounts for new members and keep the site running incredibly well.

I have been able to check in from time to time from the backwoods of New England and on each occasion everything has been 'tickety-boo'. I extend my thanks to you all.

New England....planning my dream holiday there next year! Fly-drive. Any tips?

We spent two days in Boston and then headed up the coast of Maine, stopping off at Camden - which is very beautiful but a bit touristy. Then on to Acadia National Park - which is just glorious. Great walking and a fantastic beach but the sea is very very cold! Then we went inland to Squam Lake in New Hampshire - I couldn't recommend it more. It's unspoilt and very beautiful - more great walking and the lake itself was warm and wonderful for swimming. You're close to the glorious White Mountains as well. We then made our way down to Newport, Rhode Island for a family wedding. That's well worth the trip too. New England changed my mind, a bit, about the USA. I found plenty of intelligent and worldly people and great kindness. It's a trip well worth doing!

I'm glad you had a great trip, Tony. I'm also glad New England changed your mind a bit about Usa, but I can think of many places that would change it back, including my current city of Philadelphia! This country is big, but we do have a few bright spots, N.E. being one of them. Sounds like a you had a great time.
Tickety boo! What a lovely expression. Glad you had a good holiday, well earned ;)
