Clive James, An Excellent Man

Here are excerpts from a recent interview with Clive James.  Never seems to bully or poke gratuitous fun as far as I can see unlike other serrated-tin-can-lid commenters.  Taste is a personal thing but this man is to my taste.  I wish him well.

I had no idea he was ill. Like a lot of people I was obsessed with his programmes in the eighties and nineties. He had such a wonderful style that was infectious. He became the new, and cooler, "Whicker"

So sad to hear that he's unwell.

A great writer as well. My favourite thing about him is after reading one of his novels I read his autobiography, and there was barely more than a change of name to distinguish the two.

I like Clive James. His sardonic voice was the backtrack for the eighties, in much the same way as Harry Hill's is today. Poetry eh, who would have thought he was one of those? Makes you think. That's what Clive James does/did. I like the idea of soft-pedalling the death angle.
