I finally got around to reading this piece this morning. It really if quite funny. I reminds me of that novel by Bulgakov, I think it is called The Princess and Maghareti, something like that. The novel also has a talking cat, etc. The surrealism is reminiscent of some of Meyrink's work and some of the other Prag surrealists.
