Apologies if the chins have been wagging about this somewhere else on the site ...

Great stuff!

Mr. Dickens - what a pleasure to see you back here - so many old faces returning and very welcome they are too! I went to the Poetry Archive and thought - ooh! wonderful! - then thought I would try and listen to some TS Eliot - only to notice that it is only available in realplayer. aaarrrgghhh! I have had real problems with this in the past and it took ages to delete the damn thing from my computer. Why on earth have they chosen this format only? What's wrong with Media Player which most people have? I am very disappointed.
real player seem to have sorted there act out recently, the current versions pretty good. besides it's essential for listening to the bbc on line.

I really enjoyed John Burnside's stuff; never heard him read before. I think his latest collection, 'The Good Neighbour' is yet another triumph. Hello Tony. Yep, I'm still knocking around, lurking in a dark corner somewhere. Never a day goes by when I don't read something on abc. It's strange - when I first discovered the site I was very much a writer and then a reader. These days I'm a reader and ... well, hardly a writer at all; the words have dried out, shrivelled up, gone. I'm still a champion of abc. I'm constantly saying to students - good writers, good kids with masses of potential - 'Heh! Have you heard of this website? It's called ...' I'm doing me bit, Tone! What was it Martin Amis said? If you stop writing it just proves you were never a writer in the first place. I'll come back to it ... one day!
