Posting in stage play format

I have tried to post a short stage play but I can't get it to format properly.  One of my short plays The Bank Job and episodes of Checkout that were moved over from the old site are still okay.  I was hoping i would be able to do the same with this one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Moya

Hi Denzella,
Do you have any example of the format you want?

This is part of the play transferred from the old site.

THE BANK JOB! (IP) A short play Approx 1236 words

Two youths, ROB THE GOB and BILLY are stood outside a Bank. They are
smoking and looking nervously about. Then ROB THE GOB finishes his
cigarette and stamps it out on the ground.

Rob the Gob:
Come on, Billy...put that out…it’s time! Got your mask?

Billy: (Stamping his cigarette out)
Mask?

Rob the Gob:
For God’s sake! Your stocking mask!

Billy:(Pulling two packets from his pocket)
Whatdya think, Rob, American Tan or Barely Black?

Rob the Gob:
What?

Billy:(Holding out the packets)
My colouring. American Tan or Barely Black?

Rob the Gob:
Does it matter?

I think the photo is distorting the layout at the top.  But when I tried to post this new play it was all over the place.

Characters names were coming up in different ways and their speeches were all over the place too

I hope you can help and thank you

Moya

Moya,

I've referred this to the techies and I hope we'll get an answer shortly!

Cheers,

Tony

Tony,

You're a diamond geezer!

Similar happened to one of my stories when I tried to edit it.  It went haywire. I blamed my new Word programme on the dreaded Windows 8.  Mind you, I blame the state of the economy on Windows 8.

Linda

This is what i get now

Bedtime Drink

Act I

Scene 1                    Bella’s Sitting Room                       Morning

There
is a sideboard and on it is a tray with fine bone china tea things and
several cakes on a plate.  There is also a table with two chairs.  We
hear a doorbell.

Bella: (Off)
Oh, hello! You can come in but take your shoes off;
                                  carpet …Ivory Whisper…shows every
mark.  No not in                         the Parlour.  Go through to the
back…more comfy.

Bella and Plainclothes enter.

Plainclothes: Dorothea Brunel?

Bella:                        No dear,

Plainclothes: You’re not Dorothea Brunel?

Bella:                        No dear…haven’t been for years.  No… I’m just plain            Dotty.

Plainclothes: Well, Dotty…

Bella:                        No-one calls me that either.

Plainclothes: (Slightly irritated)

Well, what do people call you?

Bella:                       I’ll only answer to Bella…me

Mam’s name.  (Grabbing his arm) Did you see the state
of that place next door?  Children’s
toys everywhere…all                                   broken.  Cooker,
fridge, settee and that filthy mattress                          been
there months…as for that bike, it’s a wonder no
one’s broken their neck…leaving it lying on the
path like                        that.  I suppose you’ve come about the
disturbances?

Plainclothes: Yes.

Bella:                        Thought so.  I think it’s them next door.

Plainclothes: Why’s that?

Hi there,

After making some tests with text copied from Word I didn't have any format problem at all. I don't really know how can I solve your problem, is the source format (Word I expect) clean?

I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by is the source format clean.

So far the problem only seems to  occur when it's a play.  I have no bother with stories or poems which I copy and paste in exactly the same way as I did for this play.

I don't understand why it is doing this.

Moya

Moya, I dont know what clean formatting is either, but I have had problems with 'formatting' since I had Windows 8.  I never had trouble with my old one, and I suspect much of my problem is something to do with that ; I have no idea, for example, how to ensure it doesnt do double spacing when I don't want it or do away with margins unilaterally. And when I do paragraphs or dialogue in stories etc, it pastes ok, but if I try to edit it later, its all over the place.  Not much help to you, but as everyone's poems are now in double spacing for some reason, you are not alone!  I am on the point of chucking the new pc out of the window some days, I cant even add page numbers!

Linda

Hello Linda,

It's so frustrating to post something and at first it looks all right but next thing is it's all over the place.

But hey ho!  Onwards and upwards...as they say.
