I have always been a writer - stories, songs, poems, plays, a musical, but life handed me problems that meant I had to bring up four children on my own, which left me little room for writing, except when I became a copywriter at the age of 45. But then of course it was my job. Retired at 68 I bellieved that now was my chance to become a famous actress (oh - forgot to mention that I had other talents as well i.e. singing, acting, and painting) but since my four children with my nine grandchildren left  South Africa, the country they were born in, and scattered across the world I eventually returned to my own birthplace, England, and now live in Manchester. At 80 I've had to give up stagework (can't trust my memory), and feel I am too old for solo singing, so writing has become the talent I concentrate on, while my art is commemorated by the paintings on my walls. Where do I go from here? Well, I've done a few ads and short films since it doesn't usually matter if it's Take 1 or Take 7 or so, so I eventually get it right.
