Running season is here

Running season is here, the parks and public pathways are beginning to fill with the wannabe-fit, time for me to slip on my running blog slippers, park myself in front of the computer with a nice hot cup of Sunday afternoon tea, and get writing.

I’ve been running throughout the winter, of course. I always run, I have a ‘have legs – will travel’ mentality, and have been running at least once a week for thirty years now. But there’s not much to write about over the winter months, it’s cold, dark, miserable, I cover my torso with England-proof clothing and set out to do my winter minimum, knowing that I’ll return home to a hot bath and a nice hot cup of tea and that it’ll be work on Monday so I won’t have to run for another five days.

But on days like these, with the sun out and my calendar proclaiming that it is now March, suddenly running seems more than my own, personal, private curse. It is something to share with the world.

Stats: 6k, 36 minutes, 6 ducks, 3boats, 4 cyclists.

Well done.  You're an inspiration.  I haven't been a serious runner since I had my daughter (now 9), but I did the Great North Run in 2004.  Perhaps it's time to dig my trainers out.

Thanks Canonette, but I've never been a serious runner, it's just something I do, like writing. Running hasn't exactly kept me slender, I have no medals nor awards.

I run. Need to actually do it, a timely reminder to shift my post pregnancy lard and smash up the pavements.Watch out neighbours. Can't leave the baby yet though.Hormones say I can't. Why does nature conspire against us.Enjoy your running Mr Oblong and tell us about it.
