My bad

I do wish all the nastiness would stop. Some people seem determined to perpetuate bad feelings, instead of just letting bygones be bygones. Dontcha have anything better to do with your time? I don't think mykle operating under a different name is any worse or more deceptive than *some* members on here who regularly change names in order to keep up a string of nasty harassment on other members under the cloak of anonymity. Let ye who are without sin cast the first stone, or bugger off.
...did Jesus add the "or bugger off" part? No? Shame! ;-) :-) * P * :-) ( Read my blog! - www.oddcourgette.blogspot.com )

The All New Pepsoid the Umpteenth!

I do hope that this will stop immediately. I do not like the insinuations either Mykle and I will remove the whole thread if you ask me to do so.
I've been reading a novel by 'Nobody' called Street Life' and I do have to log-in to contact him. After today Im hoping he'll contact me by direct e-mail. 'Nobody ' is another sweet surprise I've found here and after today I'm hoping to contact him by direct e-mail so I don't irritate you any further. BTW, I see that in SIX years you haven't posted a single thing here. Sorry, but I gotta see 'proof-of-purchase' before I can take you seriously. later D
That last was for Joe_Novak.
DylanW, you will find that MOST of the people on here, with our varying degrees of talent and ability, are actually 'okay' people. As Jack has said, it's a bit weird and rough, but not dire. There *are* a few who like to keep an extra persona or so, who don't write anything (anything they put up on the site, that is), who enjoy hanging around, slagging everyone else off, whilst not contributing much of benefit through feedback on writing or just generally benefitting the tone of the forums. It makes them feel powerful, no doubt, their Secret Squirrel identities. Feel free to throw popcorn at them.
Thank you Archer. I just did. LOL
Why the nastiness toward Texas?

Give me the beat boys and free my soul! I wanna getta lost in ya rock n' roll and drift away. Drift away...

Thanks for the offer Tony! Let's hope sanity finally prevails and there is no need to remove anything.
spart, dylan is a girl, just so you know.

. . . have never loved a potato with as much conviction as this site! By God, Spartarcard, I've never been thrashed so soundly nor loved it so much. The very image of you, sitting proudly on the edge of your bed, noople slosher clutched firmly in your teeth, sends paroxyisms of guilty pleasure down my spine the like of which I've seldom experienced since long before 'the incident' (as they refer to it nowadays) renderered me usless in that capacity. I salute you Sir and I postrate myself before you. Not to be confused with prostate, which I'm sure we'll get to by and by. (I shudder with ecstasy~~the emotion, not the drug~`when I think if it) Do with this fair maid as you will. I am yours to command. D
#useless Sorry, but I was Very excited.

This site gets stranger by the day...
After thorough research I have come to the conclusion that the term 'my bad' was bourne out of the fact that Americans cannot pronounce the words 'I am sorry'. Hence the need for a catch all term that they can refer to in times of acute embarrassment, you may hear Georgie boy using it about his entirely illegal incarceration of "Enemy Combatants" in Guantanamo in the very near future. "Baghdad was levelled on my assurance that we would find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq" Minimum Non Combatant Deaths (i.e. Civillians) = 38761 Maximum Non Combatant Deaths (i.e. Civillians) = 43189 (Note: These figures will almost certainly be too low by the time I finish typing this). So.... up to Forty Three Thousand One Hundred and Eighty Nine people dead........ um.... "my bad!".
Yes, but *some* Brits say HAITCH and they also say, 'disorientated' instead of 'disoriented', and let's not use our Great Leader as an example of the language of the common people. I, for one, *can* say 'I am sorry' when I really have to. Watch: Aaaaahhhhhh uuuuuuuhh aaaaaaaammmmmmm sssssssssssssooooo.... *face turns purple with effort* *faints*
Ooh I can feel a song coming on, Glasto. Set to the tune of, 'no charge.' George could sing-speak his way through a huge list, each one ending with, 'my bad.' It'd be a hit, I tell ya.
Haitch?... what you mean pronouncing the letter H Well the alternative is to pronounce it Aitch as you do across the pond. At least our way has the letter in question at the start of it. Disoriented could describe the world after nuking the Orient. Disorientated (from orientation... i.e. direction... Dis-orientated = losing or lost direction. I think that you are a little disorientated.
George 'LEADER' Bush.... How can you back a man who is proud that he is a pubic wig?
Did I say anything about backing him? *checks* Nope. Sure didn't.
"Yes, but *some* Brits say HAITCH and they also say, 'disorientated' instead of 'disoriented', " Well, yes 'disorientated' is in the Concise Oxford Dictionary in its own right, 'disorient' is described as 'another term for disorientate. Haitch is slightly different as it has no official basis but, far more annoyingly, its users refuse to take their position to its logical conclusion and use Fef, Mem, Nen, Ses, Wubbleyou and Rar as well. I think Wubbleyou and Rar especially would be quite good.

LOL! God, that *would* be funny. We could do away with the military system of letters (alpha, bravo, charlie, etc.). Rar! Fef! Ha! :-D
My apologies.... I sometimes find it hard to think of America as a nation of individuals. When it has such a Borg-like foreign policy. You are obviously an American with a soul, and not just a warmongering gun carrying crack addict... as we paranoid Brits are often told all Americans are. I mean you can write which instantly puts you into the rarified atmosphere. I should stop before I get accused of being a racist.... which I am not. America gave the world Bill Hicks and so I will forgive it anything.... even illegal wars. My bile for America comes out of the disappointment I feel about it at the moment, It could be so much more than it has been lately. It has all the money and power needed to cure almost all the problems facing the planet (and at least take the initiative in the things it cannot change alone). But instead it chooses to fight another war for approximately: http://nationalpriorities.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=182 And counting. Please America.... snap out of it.
I am in complete understanding of your misapprehensions concerning my countrymen. (Do I sound like Harry Enfield's 'Jurgen the German'?). I assure you not all of us are supportive of illegal wars in faraway places, nor do all of us support unjustified detainment of potentially troublesome people in Cuba, of all places. America's current foreign policies make me absolutely sick, although I have to say that GB isn't too far behind us in terms of untenable positions, thanks to *your* Great Leader. One of the reasons I fled the States right before the last election was that I knew that the Great Idiot was going to get re-elected (presupposing he was actually elected in the first place, which he was not). The thought was unbearable, as was the fact that no-one seemed to care as long as America is "safe" and we preserve "freedom" in our own backyard. Galling, really.
You are an enlightened soul and it is almost a shame that you are not still stateside spreading the word to your fellow countrymen. As for this country, it has been spiralling down the party political plughole for years. And sadly we now follow the new world order unquestioningly, because to admit being wrong in the first place is also impossible to politicians. The UKofA and Tony 'my bad' Blair will never admit an error. To me fundamentalist Christians are every bit as scary as fundamentalist Muslims... because fundamentalist Christians already have nukes and are holding the reigns in both of our countries. Fundamentalism is the first step to all out religious war and that is the last thing anyone (Christian or Muslim) want to see. I am ranting... I am sorry.... I will stop.... .
It's difficult to say whether America's got the money and power needed to solve all the world problems, because we're not really in a position to say how much that is. I think it's definitely simplistic to say that if the US closed down the Pentagon and spent its budget on humanitarian goals then suddenly, or even fifty years afterwards, everything would be all right. If you belive in humanity, you also need to believe that - though some people face more difficult conditions that others - people have a degree of responsibility for their actions and the consequences of those actions. However much you oppose the actions of the current US administration - and I didn't like the previous one much either - it's a bit much to blame them for everything.

"people have a degree of responsibility for their actions and the consequences of those actions.":- well, this is true only to a certain extent. If we are dealing with *governments* then they are certainly responsible for their actions and consequences; unfortunately the *people* under the government most often have very little say in what happens. In most countries in Africa, for instance, one can hardly say that it's the peoples' fault for being crushingly impoverished, when literally billions of pounds are funnelled into aid programmes annually. The problem is that the governments of those countries are rife with a corruption that Bushie and Blairie can only in their wettest dreams aspire to, so many of the presidents of these achingly poor countries often live in wonderful splendour while women die in childbirth on filthy mud floors just outside the palace. Aid programmes themselves are stupidly beaurocratic; having worked for an NGO I can tell you it is gobsmacking that the hundreds of NGOs occupying developing countries are at war between themselves, for funding, for access, for 'territory'...millions are spent on 'research' projects and squandered on admin while people go hungry. World Bank policies grind down the governments of countries that ARE keen to improve themselves; the governments are forced to pay back squillions for needless dambuilding projects and thus can't pay for medical clinics or infrastructure. So, true, it's NOT all the US's fault that the world is in the shit. But this current government is doing its level best to make sure the world is even deeper in the shit than it was before. And despite my reservations about the previous administration, it was a sight bit better than anything on offer at present. Sorry, now you've got ME ranting! :-)
Wow...this is a really good thread. It's always fun to read Brits writing about the US. It's so....so....enlightening…yeah…enlightening, that's the word. *4lb test should be perfect here Visit me http://www.radiodenver.org/

Um, RD, I *am* American, so I'm allowed to have a view. I'm not, however, fat.
My neighbors are American too, but they don't keep reminding me of it! If you're not fat, lets see a picture of you then? C'mon....lets see....show me. Visit me http://www.radiodenver.org/

My, Archergirl, what sociable buttocks you have. ------------------ "Fef, Mem, Nen, Ses, Wubbleyou and Rar" Hours later, I am still giggling at this. First time round was in a quiet library - I was one of 'those' nutters who laugh out loud in the library.
my mom complains I'm too thin. But I am mostly Czech blood, are the Czechs fat? lol

It does... where's my snafflegrunter? On another point... I am British... I say "aitch"... Go (as they say across the pond) figure! And on another point... America (or one should say the US of A) is a large, wealthy, powerful country, all of whose actions are thereby amplified... The All New Pepsoid the Umpteenth!

This has been an awesome thread, thank you very much to everyone for making the internet stranger. As a bit of a lifelong fatty, I can't distinguish between the American and the European in terms of obesity. However, I expect that the lack of an American aitch-haitch divide stems from the lack of Catholic/Anglican schooling, Yanks preferring to worship UFO's and the like.
