Rio's trip to France
Posted by jolono on Wed, 28 Aug 2013
Well, my horse, Rio De Sivola has his first overseas venture. On Friday he's running in France. Dieppe to be precise. It's a four year old Novice Chase. Something very rare in the UK, but the french love their young horses to go over the big fences.
We always knew that he was going to be a horse for the big fences and he stays as well. In a few years time, who knows, maybe the Gold Cup at Cheltenham. But I'm dreaming of course!
So, off tomorrow driving to Dieppe to see him run on Friday. I cant wait. I'm like a kid at Christmas.
He's in the 4.25 race at Dieppe. No idea how he'll run, but fuck it, if you're not in it you can't win it. Just hope he comes back safe and sound.
I'll let you know how he gets on. COME ON RIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Moya, our tactics were to try and lead all the way. Which he did up until two fences from home. I actually thought he was going to win it! But then in the last couple of furlongs he got a bit tired and a few of them passed him. But it was his first run in six months and as I keep remin ding myself he's still only young and got a lot more filling out to do...
