Random story feature
The "Random story" button gives the opportunity to read stories of all genres. This ABCtales feature is excellent, and I recommend it highly.
Barry Wood
Are you not confusing 'Random' with 'Randy' Bazza?
Agree with Barry and Tony, the random story is a good way of finding some gems. I am trying to make a habit of reading 10 random ones every time I come into the site.
However, Tony (congrats on Brighton BTW) is there not a way to sift random stories from random poems ? At the risk of being lynched and making no judgment whatsoever on artistic merit, I just don't really like poems.
I like poems but sometimes I'm not in the mood to read them - likewise stories. You're right, Andrew, there should be a way of separating them. Lots of people don't like poetry, and why not?
Something else I wanted to say was is there an "ideal" length for a story, from the readers'/editors' point of view?
Hi Andrew: It's not a random feature, but at the main page (http://www.abctales.com) one can choose to read stories under:
Story Gallery
Poetry Gallery
Hope this helps, Andrew.
I was never a big poetry reader but lately I've learned to appreciate it. As everyone and their grandmother knows, I've become a major lover of Alison Dunne's material. I find poetry opens my mind. It's like a whole book condensed to a few paragraphs.
He certainly isn't. I love the Random Story button - some amazing gems pop up when you use it.
Incidentally, if you find something that you really like using 'randon story' or any other method of selection, then post it up here and we'll consider it for cherrypicking. We don't get everything right all of the time and sometimes we miss some classics -so don't be afraid to shout out.
Preferably not about yourself though!
Ok, guys - I just clicked on one - I got - Oboogie - a football story.
I don't follow football or rugby, but I did get the gist of it - it was about people so caught up in the game and the money it entailed, they didn't see that the child was dying - was it an allergic reaction to the face paint? That's what I thought it was.
