call me morbid, call me pale
oh @!#$, 1 to 5 doesn't offer me a wide enough margin for ratings. broaden it to 1 to 8 please.
That's going to bug me now - I'm sure the line goes "I've spent six long days in jail" and I'm 80% certain its Half a Person by the Smiths - can you confirm ?
Just award a 5 to anything you'd put in top 20% and work down from there - 5's don't have to be perfect, just stuff you think 'Blimey, that's good'
i've spent six years on your trail..
quite right, Andrew - Half a Person. nice one!
i'm listening to it now, in fact, while trying to work out where i'm going this evening.
five stars!!
I always liked with the second Elastica record that the music press raved about a song she'd written about Damon with the wonderful line "In the days when we were hopelessly poor / I just liked you more" - how honest, how perceptive, how insightful.
None of them pointed out that she'd nicked it direct from Half a Person.
yes, i liked the look of Elastica and what they were about. but they really didn't have any original ideas at all, did they?
Other than going out and buying a load of Wire records from the second hand record shops, no.
Loved "Stretch out and wait" - it will be getting a cherry in a minute or two. And top, top pick with The Witch with the Iron Head - I was really impressed with this when I read it.
