So true!

I'm doing courses in Middle and Old English at the moment - drives me absolutely mental having to stop its automatic 'corrections.'

I know, I sometimes write book reviews and can't find the appropiate spelling I need. Wasn't "posit" once a word used instead of pose?

yes i think so. it definatly sounds familiar in that context. i'm going to have to look it up in the dictionary now.
this is what the oed says: posit - verb - put forward as fact or basis for arguement; the Confucian view posits a perfectible human nature -base something on the truth of a particular assumptionl the plots are posited on a false premise about women's nature as inferior. -put in position; place; the Professor posits Cohen in his second category of poets. noun - Philosophy - a statement which is made on the assumption that it will prove to be true. origin - mid 17th century; from the Latin posit- 'placed', from the verb potere.
Thank Belle, my OED neds updating. I must have remebered that from school days.
