Expect a growing volume of stuff from McManaman. He's new on the site and at his best, his work is brilliant, humorous with a faux-naif simplicity and often devastatingly poignant finishes. The link is to Robin Hood's Bay, which is a good example of his style, though by no means him operating at his full powers. His writing always seems to me to be very honest, and very unvarnished - you don't feel there's much inbetween you and the writer. In any case, keep an eye out for more, and just give his pieces a click every now and then. Sooner or later, you'll get suckered in and one of them'll smack you right on the jaw.
