Beautiful writing. Not only the rhythm, but the portrait of Lenora. I loved the detail of heels wobbling on plush carpet, too
It's ok being a serious intellectual when everything is not going seriously wrong? Times like now, laughter is needed very much! Also you imply comedy is easier, not sure about that. There's timing and rhythm like in poetry, only with characters...
I liked how your Alice is the one with the frying pan, as opposed to the lady who was hanged for killing her abusive husband.
