Help!

I've tried multiple times over the past few days to upload a story but I keep getting the incomprehensible error message below.  I've sent pleading messages via the Contact Us section of the web page but to no avail!  I would really like to upload this story but may have to abandon the effort if this goes on :-(

Any ideas?

UPDATE 05.10.21

Having tried, and failed, repeatedly, to get this particular story to upload to ABCtales, I've finally given up and posted it on my own (much underused) blog site.  If you're at all intrigued to see what the story was all about (or if you just want to catch up with the latest Rohan and India tale), pop over to https://philwhiteland.blogspot.com/2021/10/from-dithtanthe.html

UPDATE 07.10.21

Now uploaded to ABCtales!  Finally discovered that the problem was a link I had included!

Hi Phil

This is a bit of a mystery! I've just tried uploading a test piece of my own to see if it's a problem with the site, but that seemed to work. I'm sorry you didn't get a reply via the contact button - it can be a bit temperamental. I'll have a word with some of the other editors to see if anyone can suggest a solution.

Thanks for your input, all help gratefully received smiley

Hi Phil - I am so sorry that you've been trying to get in touch without success. Could you please email claudine@abctales.com for the time being? Having said that, I uploaded something yesterday with no problems too. I wonder if there's something happening at your end?

I've sent an email as requested, although it doesn't really add much to the blog post.  Thanks for your help.

Hi Phil, by googling the first line of your error I came across to this: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1366 Incorrect string value for a field with accents. The suggestion is that it may be caused by using cut and paste from foreign characters to input into a text. Unfortunately, they said. it makes importing content in foreign languages or with foreign names quite difficult. Some examples would be  ’ “ ” ì ‘ ' … è ä ó ú í é
I  am not computer literate and don't know if it makes sense. Is it any help to you?

Thanks Luigi.  It may be because it starts with a piece of dialogue then (with inverted commas)?  I'll see if changing that makes any difference.  Many thanks for taking the time to research the problem.  Much appreciated.

Thanks for everyone's input on this.  I've tried everything, including stripping all of the formatting from the story I'm trying to upload, and nothing works!  I still get the same error message, so I officially give up!

Don't give up, Phil. I am an obstinate guy and when something goes wrong I don't stop until I find an answer. I have a suggestion: on my personal website http://gigipagano.wixsite.com/mysite  I have created a guests page in which a few past and current members have appeared and wonder if you would like to contribute to it
I could try your 'rogue' piece and see if posts. is it a Josiah and Archibald story?
Have a look at the site and see what you think. If acceptable, email me here gigipagano@talktalk.net with a word document. I'll wait to hear from you.

Cheers, Luigi

Hi Luigi,  many thanks for your help and kind offer.  It's actually a Rohan and India story that I'm trying (and failing) to upload.  I'm mulling over what to do.  One option might be to put it on my own blog site which I've woefully underused in recent years (www.philwhiteland.blogspot.co.uk).  I'll let you know :-)
