When/how do you know it's ready to send off?

When do you know that it's time to stop tweaking the odd word and send your 'baby' out into the big, wide, scary world of Agents and Publishers?

What if I send it off and then think of something really amazing that I should have added?

Should you get your book professionally edited before you try selling it?

Any advice?

Thank you!

Rachel

Hi Rachel. You can edit it until it looks nothing like the original. But there comes a time when you have to say "Enough!" Just send it out and see what happens. I wish you all the best in what is....a journey!

Yep, sage words there from jolono.  Kick it out of the kennel and be done.

edit until you are happy, when you are unhappy, edit some more. When you're happy with the unhappy editing then I think it is time to choose option a) edit b) send it off?

Thank you all for the advice...think I might be ready to take the plunge!

You'll know when it's ready. And deep down inside, you'll know when it's not. If you have any doubt at all then it most probably is not ready.
