I love this piece, it is sweet and funny and it accurately reflects the thought processes that would be writers go through... well at least in my case anyway.
I've just received an email from the Beeb and they've linked up with Marchmont films who are looking for 10 minute comedy film scripts. The money is not very good as in nothing, and they have a disclaimer on their 'conditions' whatnot which says that they often get similar ideas in, so in so many words they say that if we pinch your idea you can't sue nah nah nah nah nah! Heaven forfend that they would consider doing that of course.
I know I've mentioned these a few times but I really do enjoy them so I don't care...
This one is very sad, I want to come up there and give you a big hug. And I'd like to dance under the moon too.
I've probably mentioned her before but have you read Louisa Young. She's now a mega rich childens author but she wrote a triology of books about a belly dancer torn between a pair of lovers.
Although there are some truly horrible typos in this (please correct them!) it really is a fine piece of writing. It takes us through a traumatic incident in stop/start sequences that may or may not be in or out of order. It doesn't matter. Original and good:
Hey I have to write a short story about some sort of rivalry... but I can't think of anything that hasn't been done before... anyhave any cool ideas?????
Hey, this is really great. I love this in particular:
"I love the men I sleep with, sometimes briefly, but the love is there
and it's real. She brings in clothes from the balcony line
cracks a shirt in the air. A whip for his back.
Dropping pegs into a tub on the floor she curses her life. Under her breath.
Tomorrow when she slices onions, I will cry for her."
