Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Such wonderful imagery in this one, Jenny. You capture a real sense of foreboding. The feathered ghost is a marvellous concept. How strange that you first wrote it as Covid was creeping towards us. Because I'm behind with my ABC reading, I've...

Oh Jean, these pieces always make me giggle, very inappropriately. It's good to know that Effie is, eventually, grateful for your ministrations. As always, your humour and strength are inspirational.

Thanks Ewan. As well as this year's autumn crop of spiders coming early, I now have shapes on the blinds to think about as I go to sleep. I don't buy that explanation of the chimney stack at all

My parents loved Scrabble, and I was brought up playing it. We had a family league, and one of my proudest moments was when I came out on top! Happy memories of sitting at the kitchen table, with the dictionary to hand. Thank you for posting this...

A beautiful poem, Paul. I am so sorry you've lost someone. Being with someone as they pass from 'is' to 'was' is a privilege, I think, as well as profoundly sad. I don't myself believe in an after life, but like an earlier commenter, I would like...

I looked him up, too. This is a marvellous poem that really conveys the strength of his work. His paintings of trees particularly struck me - there's one called The Ghost Tree which I can't quite get out of my mind. Great work Di!
