I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. Do come and have a peep at the blogs, stories and audio at https://www.janeayrie.com - you can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Congratulations on your sesquicentennial! (Yeah, I looked it up.) I thought that was the wonderful Skye Woofer in the picture. Beautiful to read, Paul. Long may he continue, misdemeanours and all.

This was so lovely to read. I've had various cats over the years, now down to one, and it's always been a joy to see their different personalities. Obviously the cat I have now has her pick of sleeping spaces, and she usually spends a few days in...

I struggle in January too. I've been retired for some years, but I still wait hungrily for the day it's still daylight at 5pm, as this to me is a definite sign we're on the way up.
Lovely response to the IP.

'Wind-chimes for windswept souls' - that's a stunning line. Took me right there.

You're so right, Rhiannon. The spirit of the gift is certainly as important as the amount.

Nicely done. My friend who volunteers in a charity shop also says you wouldn't believe either some of the people or some of the stuff they get in. I'm glad my past would no longer fit me. Otherwise I might be tempted back into lurex halternecks,...

Thanks for posting this, because I'm just reduced to incoherent babbling rage when I hear them trying to justify misogyny by twisting Islamic teaching.
Also, it's a very good poem.
