Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Really hitting your stride with this now. The writing feels a lot more comfortable and the ideas are opening up.

Another dimension added, with the threat to the survival of the tribe. I like the way your narrator's certainties have shifted over the course of the story and the situation has become more complex.

I really liked this. I thought the second stanza, especially the line 'It's the endpoint of a tributary leading back to a leg', was particularly effective. Sad and evocative piece.

You've put a lot of work into this and I am looking forward to seeing the next chapter. At the moment I'm not sure about some of the contrasts in tone - when Kian is speaking it veers between quite high flown and slang, and while in some parts...

Good set up for the rest of your story. There are some lovely touches - I particularly liked the description of the baby 'paralysed by love', and your detailed description of Kian's surroundings when he awakes gives the situation its own reality...

I really didn't want these
Posted on Sun, 24 May 2015
I really didn't want these three pieces to end, not because I was expecting answers, but because of the quality of the writing and the mystery of the world you have created. The first part was almost too painful to read, with its tormented...

You do have a great ability

You do have a great ability to get inside different heads. Yet again a strong visual sense to this piece, and I really like the insomniac city. I think your previous two segments spoke more strongly to me personally, but that is the beauty of...

The imagery is so wonderful - 'a capriciousness of white horses' and the moon 'spat from the mouth of a fanfare of clouds'. Mystery and magic. It's great.

I love the detail in this, the way you gradually reveal the strangeness of the environment, and the way you have built up these two characters and their relationship, so that by the time we start to get an idea of what might be happening we...

Thank you so much for reading and commenting - and for the Cherry! Something to treasure when I ring the water company and confess I've lost my stopcock.
