I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. Do come and have a peep at the blogs, stories and audio at https://www.janeayrie.com - you can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

I'm not a fan of the Family, but I felt for her son, posing for 'that' picture.  Choosing between the symbolism of doing it and the symbolism of not.  Whatever the perks, I wouldn't fancy life as a signifier.

Interesting idea with lots of detail -  is ths part of something longer or are you thinking of expanding it?  Lazlo sounds like a character with lots of potential for development before his sad demise.  Or was it his demise?  I think there were...

Particularly liked the portrayal of the relationship between George and Mary - very moving.  I find the way you are introducing the characters very interesting - they appear, with their own stories, as needed by the plot.  You haven't followed...

I like the way the poem's structure emphasises the ambivalence, the simultaneous need for and fear of dependence.  The poem also makes you wonder about the dynamics of the relationship, and what the 'other half' thinks about it.  A good read.

Perfumes are so evocative.

Perfumes are so evocative.  For me Carven's Ma Griffe, if I ever catch a whiff of it, has a very similar effect.  Beautiful writing.

Absolutely love the take on the IP, and the concept of the 'it' girl.  It's the simple things that often bring most satisfaction

The magic of the not quite

The magic of the not quite everyday.  'Listened to the last rays of the sun' - a wonderful image, and welcoming time as a warm cloak speaks of peace hard won.   A beautiful piece, Tina.

This is a really interesting read - I love the mix of fact and personal reminiscence.  I've never read 'A Kid For Two Farthings' but I remember seeing the film on telly years ago.   As far as I recall Diana Dors was in it - which sounds  unlikely...

I like the fact that there is no compromise in this - it is a genuine shock when there is no rescue for Dawn.  The crows convey so well the sense of a primeval power at work, and I felt the story was at its best in the passages describing that...
