I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. Do come and have a peep at the blogs, stories and audio at https://www.janeayrie.com - you can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

A blast of anguish, heartfelt and bleak. There's a real feeling of powerlessness and desperation.

I'm fascinated by this. There's shades of Doctor Moreau, and the dialogue is very evocative of time and place. I think it needs a bit of editing - it's a bit too wordy in places and you lose the pace. But it's well worth the effort...

Well this gives me hope for 2017. Absolutely wonderful. Dialogue that's surreal and totally believable at the same time. Great stuff.

In my experience, those young ninjas don't usually stand a chance against the eyes-in-the-back-of-the-head guardian of the household! Nice evocation of childhood.

Enjoyed the rhythm of this, and sense of fun. In this weather it's all too easy to feel that the keyboard is the best option! A lovely Christmas message.

I very much enjoy your style

I very much enjoy your style of writing and it fits well with this classic form of horror. There is an archness about it which makes the reader smile and you manage to convey a feel of the domestic set-up. The only caveat I have is that the...
