Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Not remotely a bit rubbish, but it does feel as though the ideas come tumbling out, and much better that way than the other. In the end we all write for ourselves, or we should, because otherwise it isn't our true voice. You have it harder than...

Hello! Welcome to ABC Tales. I very much liked the rhythm of this, and the contrast between the sound that seemed to be soothing and then became so frightening. It felt like part of something longer - have you got any plans to expand it? ...

Lots of strange and fantastical things here, with a fluidity between dreams and reality. I was wondering if it might help with the pacing if you used the dialogue to push the story forward - eg if, in the conversation between the narrator and...

Hello! I enjoyed this very much. Beautifully constructed, and some lovely strong phrases like 'the yoghurty morning light'. A mysterious and unsettling atmosphere with underlying humour. A rewarding read.

Very perceptive, Luigi - an acronym to sum up someone who lived by the soundbite and image manipulation. I never really took to him personally but I both voted for him and, later on, marched in protest against him. The early years of his...

I don't know what you're worrying about, Ewan. Thousands will march, sweeping all opposition aside, in their quest. Pikachu will save the world. #WTF

I don't share your Christian faith, but I admire your honesty and ability for self reflection. This struck a real chord with me because of what I have been calling a lot of demands on my time recently from people who need support, and it's easy...

Interesting piece, and I'm not sure quite where I stand on this one. In many ways I agree that if we want quality journalism we should accept we have to pay for it, but the digital genie's out of the bottle with news as with music and other...

Pissing on someone's strawberries will now become part of my lexicon. Decidedly more evocative than raining on a parade! As always, this is so wonderfully visual. The image of policemen with pink binoculars is to be treasured.
