Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

I loved that last line.  Sometimes there is simply no other way to put it!

I really like the rhythm of your writing - I see that you're a lyricist and the musicality definitely comes through.

This is a lovely piece.  We have been reminded recently of how powerful poetry can be at times of national grief.  I like the way this reads as a declaration of (all kinds of) faith, a credo for getting through terrible times.  Really touches the...

Wonderful use of the words - read aloud, the sounds really evoke both the storm and the calm afterwards.

Wonderful imagery and very apt for our times.  It's interesting how those ancient tales adapt so easily to our modern dilemmas.  Great poem.

'...each friend of those golden days in us glitteringly blaze' is a lovely image.  It's good that old friends can meet after so long and put aside the differences in their lives.  As in your previous poem, there's a real sense of the passage of...

Posted on Mon, 03 Apr 2017

Sounds like they're both better out of a very mutually destructive relationship.  The ambivalence in the portrayal of the wife is interesting, although for me it seemed as though you yourself weren't really sure of who she was, and as a reader...

Relationships in dementia can be so complicated, but sometimes there are lovely moments, like this.
