Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

My daughter, who has epilepsy
Posted on Tue, 15 Feb 2022
My daughter, who has epilepsy, always maintains that if she finds herself single on St Valentine's day, she can still have a bottle of wine and some chocolates, because he's her saint too.
Lovely poem, Paul.

A wonderful moment, Paul, and now it isn't unshared, because you've really brought it alive to us here. And, as ever, a great audio to accompany it.

It's lovely the way you make these people come alive, and explain the complexities of their life. As Jenny said, I am really interested to see where Maria will go, and what life has in store for her now.

I loved the ending. Also interesting how people's notes in books can bring the past alive. I've just been reading 'The Bookseller's Tale', written by a chap who's been selling books for years, and from that I gather that what was once a common...

I love the homage to Lovecraft, and indeed Poe. And once again you have taken us to Glastonbury Tor and delivered all the atmosphere there. Like Jenny, I wanted more! You say it's a draft - have you got any plans for developing it further? I was...

Posted on Fri, 11 Feb 2022
Oh my goodness, this was one of my favourite fairy tales when I was younger, and you don't often hear about it now. As ever, you have crafted it into something totally original, while retaining the feel and mood of the original. And what a...

I'm loving this, reading with a smile on my face, lots of chuckles, and at least one coffee-spurt each episode. Last time it was 'not all people in publishing are people', this time it's Justin James. Keep them coming.
