You could take him to a vets to see if he is microchipped, that would tell you where he lives. Or I believe that if you contact Cats Protection, to say you are trying to find out if he is a stray or not, they will come to your house with a hand...

I had my cataracts removed a couple of years ago. It was mainly because I was suffering badly with being dazzled by oncoming headlights when driving at night - cataracts cause what's called a 'halo effect' which make this worse.

Jack - Do you have veterinary insurance in America ?
I remember you saying your animals are all geriatrics. In the UK insurance premiums (which are bad enough anyway) go up ridiculously once your pet gets to middle age.
