Hi! Well we owe our friend a letter.
Mine is busy, so got catch up news. Amazed
when he got it fixed up here, computer, went
through in seconds, just couldn't believe. So quick.
I am not so great on town, as has been, lost book shop come Starbucks some us met, and author came, read bit of his book, and could and buy and have it signed.
"Sacred Places" nearly £20 still buy on web. Countries and culture, coloured pictures fantastic for, looking into, for poem stories.By 'Phil Carr Gomm'. Golden sunsets, mountains and history. Helps me. Streets must be kept clean, segulls peck bags open here. Big bird's frightening. Hope poetry goes well. Can be expensive here, to ask join in, or read maybe, there courses have. Maybe do leaflets
Australia, or put in garage or shop window. Sorry you so far had no replies, in Australia. London is so busy we never go, no car. Apart from "The Wheatsheaf" evening fab: poetry good. And met so many
AbcTalers and the Editor t.cook.(Tony)
julie.
Julie,'Sacred Places' sounds very interesting. I'm going to see if Better World Books has a copy.
I've recently joined a site called 'Meet Ups' with the intention of starting a poetry/story reading group. The biggest hurdle will be finding a venue but I'm sure something will come along.
Hey, thanks for your response, Sytxbroox. I'd say it is better to be uneducated and be thought a fool than to have an arts degree that proves you're one LOL (apologies to anyone with an arts degree).
Thailand - Chiang Mai or maybe Lamphun this time.
I like the food, culture, weather, people, history, beer, countryside, prices, language, motorcycles...
There are a few negatives (don't get me started on the politics), but nowhere's perfect!
Julie, thanks for the tip about 'Sacred Places' - sounds interesting. I've found a couple of local poetry groups and am investigating those at the moment.
Oh sorry for being so late replying!!
Well Corby isn't the prettiest of places anyway, but despite that a number of surveys (i presume) unearthed some facts, for example lowest number of professionals per 100 people for any town in the UK. And on the reverse the highest number per 100 of single parent mothers/ teenage mothers in the UK.
Plus having a dirty leviathan type steel plant virtually closed down with masses of redundancies, hasn't helped either.
Welcome to Corby :O)
Hudsonmoon, thanks very much for letting me know. So far, I've got quite a number of respondents from Britain, a few from the US, a few from Europe but unfortunately, none from my home land. I can't believe I'm the only Australian using this site but if the facts speak for themselves, it appears as though I am.
Very late to this but I live just outside of my birthplace, Manchester in the UK, and am trying to find a venue in the city centre for a northern night for any Abc-ers who may be interested. Nothing planned as of yet but will let you all know soon if I manage to pull my finger out and sort something :)
Lovely to hear that the Abc phenomenon stretches so far and wide!
Rachel xx
Rachel, thanks very much for letting me know. Hope you find a suitable venue.
Hey, Randwick End, pity you aren't in Sydney anymore as we might have been able to start a local ABCers chapter. Thanks for letting me know where you are anyway.
Dehoffren, hope you're enjoying the Emerald Isle regardless of the weather.
