Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

It's all so heartbreaking. Those young people with all their lives ahead of them, and this gentleman with memories and experiences he should have had time to savour, reflect on and share. Very very sad.

Gorgeous story, Paul, I was absolutely hooked from the first sentence. The only slight quibble I had was with the last paragraph. I wanted Marie to be actually shown in that final scene - maybe a hand getting the fish out of the fridge or...

Wonderful, Di - it's so great when they find their wings! Music is such an amazing thing to share. I hope your son - and his percussionist! - continue to find much joy in their creations.

Very topical, Ewan, one way and another. The only bit of kit I've got that talks to me is my Bluetooth speaker, which announces 'BATTERY LOW' in a computer's idea of an American accent. And that gives me the heebies.

Enjoyed this very...

A sad tale, and the voices of the narrator and children are so well done.

Let's hope it doesn't come to this although, when you think of the species we have already lost, it doesn't look good.

Absolutely great. Provides an explanation for just so many things.

I am now awaiting your scientific rationale for why journeys are ALWAYS shorter on the way back than on the way there.

Brightened my day!

Certainly, Bella deserves a very long hibernation after her journey. Let's hope she's completely exhausted and really can't be bothered to wake up again.

Yes, do show us a picture of the mask. I can't help but have an image of it as that...
