Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Thak you! Most of my stuff

Thak you! Most of my stuff is sitting on someone's desk mopping up coffee stains, I think. And perhaps the world is suffering enough at the moment.

And so glad to know I'm not the only one! I watched a bit of that very same Poirot, and then had a conversation with the cushions about Suchet vs Ustinov vs Finney vs the upstart John Malkovich.
Funny and delightful - except for the...

I love the idea of this

I love the idea of this conversation. I think I would be apprehensive of what any creature would have to say to me about our stewardship of the planet. You describe the bee fly so cleverly as well. I don't think I've ever seen one, but then, I...

I hope we will all learn from this, as you say, and go on to work together to build a better world. Also hope that you and yours are, and continue to be, well.

Wonderful poem, Di, and your ending is so uplifting. The tarmac eel is a brilliant image. I shall think of that whenever I'm next walking along the main road into town.
I'm loving Tina's messages. Glad my mog isn't the only one who...

I actually don't respond to
Posted on Wed, 25 Mar 2020
I don't really respond to much on social media, unless it's from people I actually know, mainly because I can't be arsed, and also because I feel it's a clumsy way to have a good discussion. So I come on here, where I'm amongst friends, and...

I don't have anything against the individuals in the royal family - like you, I rather pity them. In any other situation, if you told a child from the moment he or she was born that they could only do one thing when they grew up, whatever their...

I think you may have a point
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2020
I think you may have a point here. I can imagine all those tech-savvy kids, in school or at home, bored out of their minds and devising all sorts of things on their computers that their elders will never understand. The world may be a very...

There's a lot of all that
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2020
There's a lot of all that going around. I do hope your friend's friend will be well. As you say, let's hope we have some sort of normality back by this time next year!
