Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

It's such a shame we're losing so many of these lovely trees.  I love the description of the 'purple froth' - really evocative!

Quite apart from the beautiful imagery, I love the way this captures present uncertainties.  Old saints and angels indeed, and the things we have forgotten.  I would love to know what future historians will make, not only of these weeks and...

I've had so many conversations like this, Grace!  The - what used to be - ordinary things we'll do When It's All Over.  And you're right - it always seems to come back to food!

Oh, Penny, not what you need

Posted on Sun, 19 Apr 2020

Oh, Penny, not what you need at the moment, even if it does bring you closer to nature!  And those poor squirrels!

Do hope you manage to get it sorted out before too long.  There is one thing - it prompted a lovely piece of writing.

Not just me, then - I was peering at the sky and thinking, 'Pink?  Have I got the right night?'  Beautiful picture, though.

Just so much lovely description, and I can feel it soothing my ragged soul as I read.  Also, greatly enjoying your...

So sorry to hear about your brother, Grace.  It might well be an idea to ring 111, if he is very breathless, and obviously you also need to protect yourself.  It's so hard, but you may be putting yourself in danger by visiting him.  What a very...
