Most geckos in the parts of Phetchaburi I see are white with a strong hint of tan, to put it poetically. Generally, they laze around on the walls and ceilings, waiting to ambush flying insects. If startled, however, they can move with such speed and dexterity as to demonstrate the meaninglesness of human acrobatics. For instance, they can sprint across the ceiling, upside down, so quickly that they're a blur.

Today, as I waited for my orange curry soup with green beans, mushroom, and squid, I had the choice of drinking my iced coffee in front of the buddha shrine or behind, where I had a view of the largest pond in the university. Uncertainly, I decided for the latter.

The Sacred Elephants of Hua Hin
Hello Everybody, As most of you know, I've been teaching English in Thailand for 10 or 11 weeks now. Yesterday, I went to see the "elephant village" on the coast. I brought along my friend Boat, who is the son of a prominent member of Thailand's Forest Service. I had no clear idea of how many elephants there were in this village. Hello Tom and Betty, It's so nice to hear from you! I've been wandering in the North of Thailand for the long weekend so I just got this. Yeah, the spider on Ganga Jan mountain was pretty scary. I was walking with this little boy and every few feet on the path there was a spider web with these small black spiders with orange patterns. He would clear these away for me very quickly so we kept walking. And that's when we met their daddy! He had an orange warning pattern on his black body and large, obvious fangs.

Hi Jeremy, I'm sorry I haven't written you since I got to Thailand, except a couple of my form letters lately. Jing, jing. That means "really." Well, my job is pretty easy and the pay goes a long way. Unfortunately, I seem to have picked up Mom's spending gene and Papa's drinking gene. In Thailand, professors are pretty high up the social hierarchy so that can be pleasant.
