Hi Jeremy,
I'm sorry I haven't written you since I got to Thailand, except a couple of my form letters lately. Jing, jing. That means "really."
Well, my job is pretty easy and the pay goes a long way. Unfortunately, I seem to have picked up Mom's spending gene and Papa's drinking gene. In Thailand, professors are pretty high up the social hierarchy so that can be pleasant.
I don't know if you got my last update. I went to a tourist "village" where they keep ten elephants. One of them was about forty feet tall and just full of crazy, swinging energy. Also, I fed bananas to a three year old elephant who was just a bit taller than you.
For a couple weekends, I was a camp counselor. Those shy, wild kids really lifted my spirits. I don't know if I would have made it this far if it wasn't for them.
I hope you are doing all right these days. Are you still in the same apartment? It struck me as a good, quiet place to live. I truly appreciate you keeping your silence about my son. The last I heard he was three months old and in good health.
You know, Jeremy, my happiest memory with you was Christmas Eve on grandma's yellow and orange couch in front of that ancient TV with the wood paneling. We were little kids and you were telling me about how someday maybe we'd have wives and kids and get together for Christmas.
Oh yeah: "Happy Birthday!" I know it's early but I'll be on the road saturday.
your brother,
Sean
