This is the best thing I can remember reading about recent times. This part specially
"I share the socially distanced lower deck with 2 passengers and the dangling Covid 19 placards. 'Only travel if your journey is essential.'
I bet your editor regretted giving you a word limit! You have done an expert job enlisting every sense to describe your visit. I particularly liked all the food. And you tell about the contrasts so well, the warmth of the lady who invited you...
You have made the river scary and beautiful, evoking age glamour and power. Also, this line where you have "hue" does the true poet thing (for me) of making the sound of the words describe the meaning

"‘Don’t slip!’ … I slipped! …" which added to the sense of being there. Am glad you landed gracefully, something I aspire to but do not achieve, despite...
these bird poems make me think of those Elizabethan pendants you would open up, and find miniature jewel bright portraits. As always you have filled my mind with riches

That's so lovely! How you have found so much richness only in this one kind of flower, it's just gorgeous. Has made my day to read
particularly liked
Florets stand tightly; though delicate
to the touch, magnetic...

The rhythm of this made me think of Rain Street, though it feels a bit like Old Main Drag, too, the drowned dreams
