A single poster was stuck to the otherwise white and bare walls of the waiting room. It was an advert for holiday assurance, which made little sense to Smithy, as the job he was applying for didn’t seem to have anything to do with luxurious breaks.

I don't have much forgiveness in me I'm afraid. I feel like those politicians have had every opportunity to educate themselves and they've chosen greed, ignorance and bigotry. Telling people with buggar all to upskill themselves is so offensive...

Nicely done, P and timely. It's a horrendous mess. I read today that over 800 Russian soldiers are dying a day in Ukraine. Horrific.

Hugely evocative and loved some of the descriptions. I really like the line about friends not being steadfast, but you still cherish the memories and the times had. It's struck me that memory does seem more important & richer as we grow older...
